The department’s members have a breadth and depth of expertise across a wide range of health disciplines, primary care in particular. Individually, they expand understanding of key issues collectively and collaboratively, delivering analysis that addresses challenges facing healthcare in Qatar.
Dr. Mohamed has extensive national and international experience and holds a reputation as an expert in preventive medicine and public health, in particular within health service and policy development. He has previously held academic and senior health service roles in the UK and Europe. At PHCC, Dr. Mohamed, in addition to providing evidence informed health care advise, oversees governance and planning of public health and primary care research.
A researcher, physician, and epidemiologist. Over 10 years of work experience in the field of Public Health and community medicine. A voting member in PHCC Institutional Review Board (IRB). An active Author in many PHCC lead research projects.
Dr. Ahmed is a researcher, medical professor, physician, epidemiologist and an expert in e-learning. He has over 27 years of experience as a national consultant for national research projects in Iraq and Jordan funded by UNFPA and UNICEF. Dr. Ahmed has over 70 scientific articles. His area of expertise is research methods, data management and biostatistics. Dr. Ahmed leads PHCC’s research-training program which focuses on empowering participants to develop and undertake research projects.

Shajitha has 14 years of experience in the research governance and administration field. She is involved in research capacity building and has helped to develop accredited training programs in research for health professionals working in PHCC. She is also familiar with the ethical processes involved in research and has participated in the design and development of ethical policies, procedures and structure for research.
Tamara has over nine years of experience health research. For the last 4 years Tamara has been working at PHCC where she supports the department’s day to day activities.
Tamara supports activities related to PHCC’s research governing committees which review, commission and fund research studies. She provides regulatory and research ethics guidance, and facilitates communications with committee members, reviewers, and the researchers. Tamara assists in developing research and ethics policies and standard operating procedures. Tamara also supports departmental administrative work which includes preparing reports, budget plans as well as dissemination of departmental achievements.
Hanan is actively involved in research governance, administration and in the design of research proposals. She is also involved in research capacity building and has helped to develop accredited training programs in research for doctors, nurses, and other allied health professionals working in PHCC.
She is also familiar with the ethical processes involved in research and has participated in the design and development of ethical policies, procedures and structure for research. She has had training in ethics and working as a secretary of the PHCC’s institutional review board (IRB) since 2014. She is also a coordinator of PHCC Research Committee which vets all research, commissions and funds research across the institution.
Dana supports various functions of the department, in particular, research governance and coordination of research projects. She has a strong academic background in biological sciences, with a particular focus on genetic engineering research methods and techniques. Dana has extensive project and data management skills acquired by engaging in several research projects in previous years.
Dr. Mariam’s professional career spans 18 years during which she held leadership roles at leading health care research organizations and has been responsible for research governance and oversight, management of clinical trials, research related education, capacity development and policy making. Dr. Mariam has also worked in various consulting and collaborative capacities with international academic and development sectors such as the World Health Organization, The Global Health Network, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the University of Stanford.
In her current role at PHCC, she is responsible for design and delivery of high value research projects around primary health care, managing the research support program, and supporting research governance.
Dr. Muslim is a public health specialist, health economist and medical educationist with over 13 years of work experience. He has worked for prestigious higher education institutions, pharmaceutical industry, and leading health-based organizations (for example, Novartis, University of Sheffield, Kings College London, University of York, University of Birmingham, World Health Organization, Mercy Corps International, UNICEF etc.). Dr. Muslim is a published researcher and has reviewed more than 900 research articles for Journals such as Springer Nature, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, Public Health, and PLOS One to date.
Dr. Muslim is mainly involved in the clinical research department in initiating research projects, drafting research articles pertaining to key priority areas of PHCC and providing specialised technical support within the department. He is currently leading research projects relating to uncontrolled diabetes, integrated care, application of ergonomic within healthcare settings and health services research.
Bindya is a Certified IRB Professional with extensive experience in research ethics and healthcare. She has previously held key roles with healthcare organizations in Canada and Qatar. Bindya is responsible for providing regulatory expertise, guidance and administrative support to PHCC’s IRB. She assists in managing and evaluating current policies and procedures and develop new policies and programs as needed to ensure regulatory compliance and research integrity.
